People have an ancient relationship with trees; we live near them, eat of their fruits, shelter ourselves with their bodies, and ultimately return ourselves to their roots. Our forebears worshiped in their groves, danced under their sacred branches, and in many cases revered them as elder spirits.
As elements in the built landscape, we choose trees that define spaces and trees that decorate spaces. Large trees create the structure of our outdoor rooms, channel and protect vistas, and anchor our created environment. Smaller trees provide the seasonal joys of flowers, fruit and changeable leaf color. Romance, history and aesthetic desire are intertwined in our choice of trees.
These are just a few of our favorites; to learn more about any of the trees pictured below, click a photo.
