Red Leafed Rose

Red Leafed Rose
Rosaglauca

This rose grows 8 ft in 10 years. It has beautiful arching canes with bright red bark, making a lovely scene in the snow. Its leaves are a dusky pink and the abundant flowers that come at the 4th of July are dime-sized pink single roses with a clearly defined creamy center. The plum red fruit hangs on afer the brilliant fall-colored leaves fall off. This plant is extermely hardy and malleable; it can be trained into a small formal rose tree or onto a trellis. You can see large examples across the street from the high school.
